MANAGER LOOKS FORWARD TO PRE-SEASON

19th June 2002

Following yesterday's signing of striker Allan Smart on a two-year contract, Manager Alex Smith is looking forward to the start of pre-season training next week. In an interview earlier today, Smith stated: "The squad has had a reasonable rest with our last game of the season back on 12th May. Players come back much fitter from the break nowadays, but it still takes some time to build up fitness levels again to an optimum level for a hard season ahead. I am sure all the players are looking forward to the rigour and exhaustion that only pre-season can afford."

Good news on the injury front: Jamie McCunnie's knee operation at Fernbrae last week was successful and, even though the defender will miss some of the pre-season training, it is expected that he will join in at some stage. The Manager is also hopeful that Mark Wilson (pictured) and Jim Hamilton will be able to participate in the preparations for the new campaign.

Whilst the Club is still expecting fixture details for their planned tour of Austria, the CIS Cup dates have been released and are as follows:-

Round 1: 10/11 September 2002
Round 2: 24/25 September 2002
Round 3: 15/16 October 2002
Round 4: 5/6 November 2002
Semi Finals: 4/5 February 2003
Final: 16 March 2003
