SMITH PLEASED WITH PRE-SEASON PROGRESS

28th June 2002

On Friday afternoon, Manager Alex Smith was pleased with the progress of the team's pre-season preparations. In an interview, the Tangerines' boss stated: "We have now completed our fifth training session after the break and things are looking positive. The whole team is back in full training with the exception of Jamie McCunnie who is working with the physiotherapist on his rehab following a minor knee operation in the course of the summer. Everybody else is fit to train hard and our new man, Allan Smart, is shaping up well. Included in the pre-season squad are eleven new young players who have just left school and are thriving on the adventure of embarking on a football career. It is an exciting time for them and for us as their arrival at the Club gives the coaching staff new impetus and a fine challenge. All of that is excellent news. On the signing front, our endeavour is to bring in at least another two players, hopefully before we travel to Austria on 8th July 2002, failing that, in time for the restart."
