LOUIS MOULT NOMINATED FOR PFA SCOTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE YEAR

25th April 2024

Following on from his inclusion in the PFA Team of the Year, Dundee United striker Louis Moult has received a nomination for the PFA’s cinch Championship Player of the Year Award.

Enjoying a renaissance at Tannadice following a disheartening period plagued with injury, the Englishman’s striking frequency throughout the campaign has been metronomic.

Moult marked his Terrors debut with a scintillating display at Gayfield on Matchday One, involved in either setting up or converting all four United strikes, and hasn’t looked back.

The 2023/24 campaign has been the most prolific of our number nine’s career to date, grabbing 17 goals in 31 league appearances.

Since the 2011/12 season, only Scotland international Lawrence Shankland has rippled the net more frequently for United in a league season.

Also adept at bringing his teammates into play, he has recorded five assists, with his goal contribution total of 22 meaning he has been involved in almost a third of all 69 of our second-tier goals this term.

As a result, Moult sits joint-top of the cinch Championship G/A chart, allied with Partick Thistle hitman Brian Graham, who has played almost 500 additional minutes than his United counterpart.

Jags veteran Graham has also made the shortlist, alongside Raith Rovers forward Lewis Vaughan and Queen’s Park livewire Ruari Paton - the four nominees the four most prolific frontmen in the division.

'I’VE REALLY ENJOYED THIS SEASON'

“I’m proud to have received recognition from my fellow peers for such a prestigious award. I’ve really enjoyed this season, one which has ultimately ended in success for the club as a collective.

“I’d like to thank my teammates and staff, without whom this would not have been possible, alongside the Dundee United supporters for their fantastic and crucial backing throughout the season. I also must credit my family for their support, both in the good moments and the bad.

He concluded: “Finally, I’d like to emphasise my gratitude to the Manager for bringing me to the club initially and continuing to believe in me no matter the circumstances.”
