Hibs Preview

30th September 2016

Despite it being a Championship fixture United are arguably involved in one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures in Scotland this weekend. At 12 noon on Sunday the Terrors travel to Edinburgh to face Neil Lennon's Hibernian. The game is being screened live on Sky Television. By Gareth Scott After a very tough week for Ray McKinnon's men, it ended positively with a well earned and much needed win over Morton at Tannadice last Saturday. That result, thanks to a brace from Tony Andreu, brought United to within five points of Hibs who had started with five straight wins in the Championship before slipping up in recent weeks against Ayr and league leaders Queen of the South. The results for all clubs in the league so far shows just how difficult a season this will be. Therefore, taking all this into account, United will travel to the capital in a positive mood. Hibs are a huge club but are currently trying to get back to the Premiership for the third time although they did reach two cup finals last season, winning a historic Scottish Cup in May. Despite being in different leagues for two seasons, the teams met three times in cup ties. Both sides had a win each in league cup ties at Easter Road but in the semi final of the Scottish Cup last year Hibs triumphed on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes. A very different looking United side will look to make amends on Sunday. Hibs have kept the majority of their side from last season but towards the end of the transfer window they added former United man Brian Graham to bolster their already strong attacking options. United have been hampered by injuries recently with midfield trio Flood, Murdoch and Telfer missing out and hopefully some of these key men will return soon. Tony Andreu had been out but as stated previously he made a welcome return on Saturday and will hopefully produce more of the same at the weekend. This has the potential to be a classic and once again a backing from the Tangerine Army will be very welcome on Sunday. C'MON UNITED!!!!!!!!!
