ABERDEEN v UNITED

11th September 2002

After the derby match which he states "seems so long ago", Dundee United Manager Alex Smith is looking forward to this evening's trip to Aberdeen. "Past history suggests that this will be a difficult encounter, however this Club has an impressive record in the Granite City and, although we anticipate a hard fought game, we are confident this evening of recording our first victory of the season in a competitive match this campaign."

On the injury front, Alex has no fresh worries, so only long-term absentee Jim Hamilton and the suspended Alan Smart will sit this one out. Alex continued: "I have not as yet finalised my team. One player who may well come into my thoughts is young Mark Wilson who had such an impressive debut in last year's 1-0 derby victory over Dundee, but then was unfortunately injured in that fixture. He is now is fully fit and has impressed in training so much that I cannot ignore him."
