LOUIS MOULT NAMED CINCH CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH

5th April 2024

Dundee United are thrilled to welcome the news that Louis Moult has been named the cinch Championship Player of the Month for March.

Following on from Kai Fotheringham in October, Moult becomes the second United man to receive the accolade this term.

Throughout March, the frontman rippled the net four times in six appearances, averaging a goal every 99 league minutes. His strikes single-handedly accounted for four cinch Championship points.

Moult began the month by notching an emphatic equaliser at Firhill to earn the Terrors a point on the road, then would go on to score the only goal of the match in our victory over Greenock Morton just three days later.

Our number nine garnered nationwide attention on Matchday 30, as he sent an outrageous effort from inside the centre circle over the head of Inverness Caledonian Thistle 'keeper Mark Ridgers - with the ball kissing the crossbar and bouncing over the line to restore parity at Tannadice.

Rounding off March with a decisive spot-kick in our top-of-the-table clash with Raith Rovers, a match in which he also registered an assist for Tony Watt's opener, Moult's league tally for the term now stands at 15.

Only Queen's Park livewire Ruari Paton boasts more second-tier goal contributions for the 2023/24 campaign, besting his United counterpart by one solitary strike - albeit the Irishman has played over 700 additional minutes.

'IT'S ABOUT STICKING TOGETHER'

Receiving an SPFL-based Player of the Month trophy for the second time in his career north of the border, the 31-year-old commented: "I'm delighted to win the award. As an individual, it's what you try and achieve - but as a collective, it's all about the team and sticking together.

"Without the help of my teammates, coaching staff and the fanbase, I wouldn't have been able to achieve it!"

'SHOWN REAL CHARACTER'

United Manager Jim Goodwin added: "It's just rewards for Louis - he's had a fabulous season and played a significant part in our successes up until this point.

"Not only has he led the line with distinction, but also shown the character we look for in a player by using his experience to aid other members of the squad in their development."
