JIM GOODWIN SCOOPS SECOND SUCCESSIVE GLEN'S VODKA CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER OF THE MONTH AWARD

9th November 2023

Dundee United are thrilled to welcome the news that Jim Goodwin has been awarded the Glen’s Vodka Championship Manager and of the Month for October, marking the second successive month in which the 41-year-old has received the accolade.

Under the Irishman's charge, United have completed yet another month of competitive action without tasting defeat.

After beginning October with a battling draw at Stark’s Park, the Terrors would go on to record two emphatic back-to-back victories in the cinch Championship, demolishing both Partick Thistle and Arbroath - these two clashes saw United score 11 goals without reply.

Goodwin’s side then capped off a scintillating four weeks of football with a hard-fought victory at the Excelsior Stadium thanks to a goal in either half from Kai Fotheringham.

Having conceded five goals from our opening 12 Championship matches, United continue to boast the meanest defence in British professional football.

The class of 2023/24 have also secured the club’s best-ever start to a league campaign - with no other United side able to match the feat of navigating through the first 12 matches of the season unbeaten.

We are now just four matches shy of our longest stint without losing - the current club record stands at 20 matches in all competitions.

"IT'S A TEAM EFFORT AS ALWAYS"

Upon his acceptance of the trophy, Goodwin was keen to stress the importance of the collective once more.

"It’s a team effort as always. We wouldn’t have the success that we’ve had up to now without everybody behind the scenes working together and pulling in the right direction.

“It was a really difficult month when you looked at the calendar, with five games in the space of just four weeks.”

He continued: “There’s been lots of good football played throughout October, scoring six in one game and five in another then looking defensively solid as well. It bodes well going forward, it just shows the hard work the players are putting in.

“I’m really pleased with the start we’ve had to the season but that’s all it is for the time being. We have to make sure we maintain this level of consistency and have another good month.”
