DUFCW WELCOME FOUR NEW ADDITIONS

12th August 2023

Dundee United Women have completed the signing of four new players ahead of Sunday’s season opener at Partick Thistle.

Goalkeeper Lauren Sangster, defender Amy Taylor, midfielder Olivia Hurrell and attacker Maya Knight bring our summer business up to ten signings.

Lauren Sangster

The former Aberdeen shot-stopper will come in to aid Megan Sidey in her development as the side aim to kick off their season this Sunday.

Sangster, 30, has previous top-flight experience and has also been included in Scotland youth squads in the past.

Sangster will wear number 23 this coming season.

Graeme Hart “We were keen to get another keeper in to support and push Megan. Lauren had been training and has really impressed so we wanted to get her on board. She’s been fantastic within the group and has really impressed us with her dedication and attitude already.”

Maya Knight

Our new number 22 is an attacking-minded player, moves to the club after progressing through the youth ranks at East Fife to play for the Fifers in SWPL2 last season.

The 17-year-old made her debut at her previous side aged just 14 and will look to impress Graeme Hart during her first season in the top flight

Graeme Hart said, “I watched Maya a few times at East Fife and for someone so young she looked strong and powerful which really impressed us. She's very good with both feet and has a keen eye for goal. Having not long turned 17 she’s only going to get better and we’re excited to see what the future holds for her.”

Amy Taylor

16-year-old Taylor comes to United after impressing throughout pre-season and will hope to break into the squad during the campaign.

The pacey fullback who spent time at Dundee East prior to her move to Gussie Park will wear number 21.

On securing the signing, Graeme Hart said, “Amy is someone we watched at Dundee East and her work rate attitude and tenacity were what really stood out. The youngest of our new signings at just 16 we really feel she has a massive opportunity in the game and we can help her achieve her potential here at Dundee United."

Olivia Hurrell

The 17-year-old moves to Gussie Park after coming through the youth ranks at Dryburgh and Heart of Midlothian.

Hurrell, who is a United fan, has been involved in Scotland U17 squads over the last 12 months, notching a goal against Hungary in September 2022.

Graeme Hart said, “Olivia is a player we’ve watched develop over the last couple of years and we feel now is a good opportunity for her to step into a professional environment."

“She’s strong, powerful and has goals in her game. We know she is a United fan and how much this move means to her - we're looking forward to watching her progression here at United."
