Jacob Comerford's header seals a point for United B at the death

It was an even contest at Gussie Park, with the visitors going ahead just before the half hour mark.

Dylan Watret hit the opener for Ayr after some clever wing play and a neat one-two, drilling an effort low into the bottom corner.

Ten minutes later, the away side should have doubled their lead, but no one could get on the end of Fraser Bryden's teasing cross.

It took United until the second half to really hit their stride, with a flurry of chances falling after 60 minutes.

Stuart Heenan looked the one certain to restore parity, but after breaking through one on one the linesman's flag denied our young forward.

Heenan looked to turn provider, floating a cross for Craig Moore but his shot at goal was smartly blocked by Alex Jeanes.

A fingertip save from Ollie Ecrepont then denied Moore one more, pushing his shot on to the post.

Time looked to be running out for United, as Heenan again struck the post with just four minutes to play.

However, deep into injury time, we had a well deserved equaliser with the final touch of the game.

A pinpoint delivery from a United corner found Comerford, who rose highest to head home from inside the area.

It's a point that holds United B in seventh place, and keeps Brian Grant's side unbeaten in two after last week's win over Queens Park.
