DAVID DORWARD MBE TO STEP DOWN

9th December 2022

Dundee United FC has today announced that non-executive director David Dorward MBE will step down from his role at the end of 2022.

David has been a board member since June 2016. First as an associate director and then from 2017 as a non-executive director. He continued in this role after Mark Ogren purchased the club in December 2018. David indicated that his increased commitment to local charity work had led to this decision.

Chairman Mark Ogren said: “I am sad to see David leave the board but understand his reasons. He has served the club exceptionally well during his tenure on the board and brought his vast experience and knowledge to the fore on many occasions.

“David has always positively influenced Dundee United, and we are grateful for his many years of service. I consider him a friend and know he will continue to support the club through his work with the community trust and in the stands.”

Awarded an MBE in 2021 for services to children and families in the city, David is chairperson of four local charities and acts as treasurer for another.

David will continue to play a part in the future of United through his role as chairperson of Dundee United Community Trust, where he helped oversee the reinvention of the charity in 2016 and continues to steer them as they make meaningful changes in the local community.

David Dorward MBE said: “It has been a privilege to serve as a director at the football club I have supported for many years. I took up the role of associate director in 2016 and have given my very best to the position. I now feel the time is right to move on as my work in the local charity sector is taking up much more of my time.

“I wish the club board, staff and players the very best for the future.”
