Dundee United and the Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT) have been giving children in the local community the opportunity to enjoy matchday mascot packages at all home games this season.
The club have offered two mascot places for each home match to DUCT, providing local children, who may not have been able to experience it else wise, a unique matchday experience!
The project, one of many the club and DUCT work collaboratively on, has brought the magic of matchday into the lives of many children already this campaign as the club commits to ensuring the experience of being a mascot at Tannadice is open to everyone.
The club’s community trust continues to win awards and be pioneers in its field for their fantastic work - growing from strength to strength as the club proudly supports initiatives throughout the year.
Dundee United Fc’s Chief Executive, Luigi Capuano, said: “The club are rightly proud of the work done by the community trust, and we are continuously looking to assist in whatever way we can. Be it staff interaction, the use of facilities, or simply helping in the all-round promotion – the club are always happy to assist in the great work being done.
“I have seen first-hand on matchdays, the joy that the mascot packages brings to the youngsters who are chosen to attend, and we are pleased to be able to play a small part in enhancing people’s lives”.
DUCT’s Chief Executive, Jamie Kirk said: “Being a matchday mascot at a Dundee United game is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience and something children who love football dream about. However, for many children we support in the community, their personal circumstances mean being a mascot is out of their reach. Particularly now when we have so many local people experiencing the effect of a cost-of-living crisis, the gift of these mascot spaces from the Club allows us to bring genuine joy to these children and families. This initiative is all about giving the gift of cherished memories using the power of Dundee United.”
