UNITED SUPPORTERS READY FOR RETURN TO STADIUM WHEN POSSIBLE

26th November 2020

The Club recently conducted a season ticket holders survey regarding a return to the stadium for supporters and significant results have been returned.

96% of United supporters are ready to return to Tannadice as soon as possible.

The survey completed by over 2400 season ticket households asked fans to tell us how they felt about a potential return to Tannadice to watch matches and for their views on processes and procedures, in line with government guidance to welcome fans back safely when the time arrives.

Among the main findings, the survey highlighted the following:

  • 96% of fans are ready to return to the stadium now.
  • 94% would happily fill in an online health questionnaire before entering the stadium.
  • 96% are happy for track and trace contact details to be stored.
  • 92% would be able to use smart devices for paperless tickets.
  • 74% would demand that strict COVID-19 protocols were implemented.
  • 77% would travel by private car to the stadium.
  • 91% expressed delight or excitement at the prospect of a return to matches.

Temperature checks before entering the stadium, strict one-way systems in place, face-coverings worn at all times and socially distanced queuing upon entry would reassure supporters.

Dundee United fully understands that such a supporters' return will be government-led. Still, we also believe it vital to take into account the feelings and opinions of our fans. These opinions will be significant in the process of protocol informing as we look to work with all the relevant authorities to welcome fans back as soon as possible.

A Dundee United spokesperson said, "We would like to thank our season ticket holders for taking part in the survey and responding in such substantial numbers. Over 70% of households contacted filled out the survey.

"The information is vital as we look ahead to the safe return of fans to Tannadice. The survey shows fans are excited at the prospect of returning but are also willing to adhere to required Covid-19 safety measures upon return.

"We will continue to work towards being ready to allow fans back into the stadium. We understand that the return will be led by broader considerations and we will work with the Joint Response Group and other relevant authorities to achieve a return as quickly as possible.

"We do not underestimate the challenge we are all facing with the current pandemic and reiterate that safety is paramount, but we also see the benefits to the local communities and fans of a return to stadiums."
