Community Trust Teams Up With Dryburgh to Grow Girls' and Women’s Game

23rd October 2018

Dundee United Community Trust is delighted to announce a formal partnership with local club Dryburgh Athletic which will see the two organisations work together to grow the Girls' and Women’s game in Dundee.  Dundee United Women’s Team and Dryburgh have been working together for the last couple of years and this new agreement is a fantastic step forward which will involve United supporting the youth pathway at Dryburgh, ultimately giving young girls the opportunity to make the step up and play for DUWFC.

Jamie Kirk, on behalf of the Trust, was delighted with the arrangement: “I’m thrilled to be able to formalise what has been a very beneficial partnership for both parties and look forward to taking it on to the next level.  Dryburgh is a fantastic local club with a well deserved strong reputation in both the boys' and girls' game and we believe that by working together in areas such as coach development and player recruitment we can contribute to growing the girls' and women’s game in Dundee.”

John Beatt, Dryburgh Athletic Girls Chairman, added “Having worked together in partnership successfully over the last couple of years it is now fantastic to agree this MOU which outlines both clubs' passion to help grow the girls' and Women’s game in the city.  With DUWFC clinching promotion to SWPL 2, our Dryburgh Ladies having a great first women’s season and a hugely successful year for our Dryburgh Girls' sides, this is an exciting time for both clubs.”

The ink hasn’t even dried on the new agreement and yet the partnership is already bearing fruit as Dryburgh Ladies graduate Neve Guthrie scored the opening goal of the game against Cove Rangers which clinched the title and promotion for United in front of over 400 supporters.  It’s been a terrific week for the female game in Dundee and both parties look forward to enhancing their already strong partnership.
