UNITED BEHIND BRAEVIEW

28th September 2018

Dundee United Community Trust last week stepped in to provide six days of education and physical activity for S1 pupils at Braeview Academy following the tragic fire at the school.

The programme was made possible by Fairfield Community Sports Hub who kindly opened their doors at very short notice to ensure the pupils had somewhere to go at a period of significant upheaval.

The work of the Community Trust was supported by a visit from Dundee United Assistant Manager Laurie Ellis and First Team star Declan Glass who took part in a mock pre match press conference orchestrated by Community Coaching Manager Paul Wilson.

Community Trust Head of Operations Jamie Kirk stated: “The venue is fantastic and it's great that the community has such a fantastic facility right on their doorstep.  The community has really rallied around the school at a tough time and I’m pleased to be able to have played a part in supporting the teachers, pupils and their families.  Education is really important to us and huge credit has to go to my team of staff and volunteers for stepping forward to help.

"The last week has been another example of the great work going on in the local community by the Community Trust and it’s clear that the work has had a positive impact on those affected."
