Community Trust Kiltwalk Appeal

12th July 2018

Dundee United Community Trust (DUCT) is once again taking part in the Kiltwalk in Dundee on Sunday 19th August 2018 and need your help!  The funds raised this year, to be boosted by a 40% bonus from Sir Tom Hunter and the Hunter Foundation, will help DUCT host a Christmas Dinner at Tannadice – on Christmas Day – for vulnerable people in the City who may otherwise be on their own.  The Trust held a really successful event in the run up to Christmas last year and heard the story of local women Mary, who had not been out of the house in weeks.  It’s Mary’s story which inspired the Trust to open the doors on Christmas day this year.

The walks vary in length, with options for:

The Wee Wander – 6 miles, leaving from the HMS Unicorn with a pit stop at Broughty Ferry Castle before finishing at the Kiltwalk Village

The Big Stroll – 11 miles, leaving from Tayport with a pit stop on the Tay Bridge before finishing at the Kiltwalk Village

The Mighty Stride – 25 miles, leaving from St Andrews and giving walkers the chance to take in the St Andrews Old Course surroundings along the way

Jamie Kirk from the Trust commented on the fundraiser: “We are really grateful to everyone who took part in 2017 and the feedback was fantastic.  This year, we have the chance to use the funds to open our doors to those in most need on Christmas Day.  Literally every step counts towards bringing the festive spirit to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”

What do we need?

We are looking for walkers to raise a minimum of £100 through sponsorship for taking part in the Kiltwalk.  All you need to do is email jamie.kirk@dundeeunitedct.co.uk and we can register your interest at that point.  The Trust will cover the cost of your registration and walkers will be provided with an exclusive Dundee United Community Trust/Kiltwalk T Shirt.  We will also be hosting three activity sessions exclusively for those taking part in this for the Trust, namely:

  • Exclusive Stadium Tour
  • Guest session by club guest (fitness and nutrition tips and guest activity session)
  • Final preparation session before the Kiltwalk event

All of these sessions are to be delivered at Tannadice Park, with days/times TBC.

We really hope to see as many United fans as possible supporting the Community Trust in this wonderful fundraiser.
