Dev League: United 0 Dundee 2

12th February 2018

The Young Terrors were defeated by their Dundee counterparts in an at times ill-tempered derby at Tannadice tonight courtesy of a quick-fire double shortly before the interval.

The Tangerines went close to taking the lead after six minutes when Archie Thomas met a Cammy Ballantyne cut-back and his first-time shot was brilliantly saved by Kyle Gourlay.

But he couldn’t hold it and the ball broke to Logan Martin whose effort was cleared off the line with Gourlay gratefully grabbing the loose ball.

At the other end, Deniz denied Jack Lambert with his feet four minutes later.

And on 25 minutes, Deniz was again in action this time thwarting Crowyn Scott.

But the United keeper was defeated seven minutes from the interval when Jesse Curran’ s cross was swept home by Scott from 8 yards.

And two minutes later, the Dark Blues doubled their lead when Scott was brought down in the box and stabbed home the rebound after Deniz initially saved his penalty.

And in a largely uneventful second half, with just over half an hour left Dundee midfielder Craig Wighton returned to action for the first time since suffering a cruciate injury.
