Raith Preview

14th July 2017

With the curtain barely down on last season, United are back in competitive action this Saturday when Raith Rovers come calling in the first Betfred Cup group stage match. By Gareth Scott

When the teams line up on Saturday at 3pm, there will be massive changes to the sides that met four times in the Championship last season. Most significant for the visitors is that Barry Smith has replaced former manager John Hughes following the Rovers' relegation to League One.

As many as 15 players have left Tannadice with the likes of Murray and Spittal departing for new challenges. However Murdoch and Flood have remained and the additions of Keatings, King, Scobbie, McMullan, N'Koyi, Briels and most recently Mehmet should excite the fans in a season that will hopefully end in promotion next May. The fans have backed the Club in large numbers with almost 4000 season tickets sold to date.

For now the focus will be on the cup and the Club will want a good run.  There is a much anticipated derby to look forward to in a fortnight, so a few good results leading up to that would put all Arabs in the mood for that one.

The outlook is positive around Tannadice and here's hoping the match against the Rovers is the first in a very successful season for The Terrors.

C'MON UNITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
