SEÁN DILLON TESTIMONIAL MATCH

1st February 2017

Dundee United will take on Hearts in Seán Dillon’s testimonial to be played at Tannadice on Tuesday 21 March 2017 at 7.45pm. Prices for the fixture are £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for Under 12s (maximum of 4 per full-paying adult) with the George Fox and Eddie Thompson lower stands open for United fans and the West Stand housing  Hearts fans. Both teams will have some of the Irishman’s ex-teammates in their respective squads. Already John Rankin, Craig Conway, Jon Daly, Christian Kalvenes and Noel Hunt are confirmed to take part in the United line-up. Hearts are expected to welcome some of Seán’s ex-teammates who have played for both teams into their match day squad. Signed by Craig Levein in January 2007, Seán has currently made 339 appearances for the Club scoring seven goals since his debut on January 7, 2007. 2010 witnessed Seán collect a Scottish Cup winners medal as part of the team which beat Ross County 3-0 to secure United’s fifth major trophy. In 2016, during his testimonial year, Seán became the first current player to be inducted into the Dundee United Hall of Fame. Testimonial Committee Chairman Gordon Deuchars said: “Feedback and commitment from players past and present that have played with Seán has been fantastic as has the response from sponsors and local businesses to help support and participate in Seán’s testimonial year. “Seán is a well-respected professional, a great servant to Dundee United and a great ambassador for the Club and the city of Dundee. He is a Scottish Cup Winner in 2010 and has been Club captain since 2013. “With over a dozen ex-players keen to take part in the testimonial match, it will be a fantastic night and a great opportunity to see a few Dundee United legends and for the fans to show their appreciation to Seán for his commitment to the Club over the last ten years. “A huge thanks to Craig Levein, who signed Seán in January 2007, and to Hearts Football Club for their support with the testimonial match. There are, in my opinion, great links between both clubs with many ex-players and coaches at Tynecastle."
