Dundee United 3 Queen of the South 3

14th January 2017

United salvaged a late point at Tannadice today coming back from 3-1 down. By Stewart Buick United couldn't have started the game any better taking the lead in the fourth minute through a Simon Murray instinctive finish after Scott Fraser played the ball in behind. The home side had chances to pull two goals clear but just couldn't quite find that final ball to get that second goal. However Queen of the South drew level on 28 minutes after a floated-in free kick was brought down by Carmichael. The ball then found its way to the back post where Stephen Dobbie slotted home his 18th of the season. Second Half: Queen of the South started the second half brightly and  Dobbie then set up  Joe Thomas from the outside to slot home through Cammy Bell's legs after peeling away from Mark Durnan to put the visitors two-one ahead. v QotS (H) 14.1.17 Things got even better for the visitors in the 65th minute when young Dominic Thomas curled a shot into the top corner after cutting inside of William Edjenguele. United managed to grab one back on the 79th minute through Scott Fraser's well steered shot into the bottom corner after a cut back from Lewis Toshney. This changed the momentum of the game and the pressure from the home side grew on Queen of the South and took its toll on the eighty-ninth minute. Murray once again made the scoresheet with his second of the game and his eleventh goal of the season when he got on the end of a drilled cross from Tope Obedayi who was in an advanced position on the left hand side of the park. United then had a chance to snatch it at the death but Mark Durnan couldn't quite manage to get enough on his header which was well saved by Lee Robinson. Whilst United will be pleased to have gained a point after being 3-1 down, they are now six points behind Hibernian. The Man of the Match Award goes to Simon Murray for his two goals and being a threat to the Queen of the South defence all game. Teams to follow.
