WOMEN'S TEAM WIN LEAGUE

12th October 2016

The Dundee United Women’s Football Club secured the SWFL2 East League on Sunday, 9 October. After an amazing start to their first season, DUWFC collected their first piece of silverware in June by winning the SWFL2 (Scottish Women’s Football League Division 2) Cup and then they clinched the SWFL2 East League title on Sunday with a 6-0 win v Edinburgh Caledonia. It has been a fantastic season, winning every competitive League game to date and collecting a goal difference of +125! It has been a fantastic team effort. Promotion means that DUWFC will be playing in the SWFL Division 1 next season and their ambition is to win this League to gain access to the Scottish Women’s Premier League. Credit must go to the players who have performed fantastically well in their inaugural season, as well as the Coaches and the backroom staff. This has been an amazing team effort in their first season. Head Coach, Gavin Beith said after the match: “I’m delighted that in our first season we have secured the League and Cup double. All players, coaches and committee members have worked so hard to make this happen. The commitment shown from all has been outstanding. This season has given the Club a great foundation to build upon.” Justine Mitchell, Chair of DUWFC said: “I just want to thank everyone involved at DUWFC, including the players, the Coaches and Lorna Moffat, our Club Secretary, who have all worked very hard to make this happen. It has been a joy to get to know the girls and see them grow as players. Thank you to everyone who has supported the team this season. The whole of DUWFC appreciate your support.” DUWFC’s last game of the season will be at the GA Arena on 23rd October at which time the team will be awarded their League Trophy. Entry is free and the team would appreciate a show of support and congratulations.
