IAIN ANDERSON ENQUIRY CONFIRMED

13th June 2000

The club's determination not to raise false hopes over potential new signings has been tested yet again - by reports from south of the border. This time, French club Toulouse's former Dundee winger Iain Anderson is reputed to have been targetted by manager Paul Sturrock.

A spokesman for the Tangerines admitted,"Iain Anderson is a player we made an enquiry about, but as always we feel that it is unfair to build up hopes amongst our supporters".

Anderson has been in signing negotiations with new English First Division outfit Preston North End since the end of the season after having spent part of last season on loan at Deepdale. His assistance in helping Dave Moyes side to the Second Division title last month led to a Preston bid to keep the former Dens Parker.

However, indications are that his club's asking price, along with his personal terms, have created a major stumbling block to talks at Preston, and chances are that he would have to dramatically reduce those demands for Paul Sturrock to rekindle any interest.
