OWEN COYLE CLEARED BY SFA

2nd December 2003

The Scottish Football Association has thrown out the case against Owen Coyle which claimed he had made a racist comment against a Dunfermline Athletic player in a recent Under-21 match at Tannadice.

The Disciplinary Committee of the SFA, after a full hearing, said that Owen Coyle had no case to answer.

Owen Coyle said: "I am delighted at this decision. I thank the Club and Dunfermline Athletic for their support. We have a very strong anti-racism policy at Dundee United and there is no place for racism in Scotland. I can now put this matter behind me and get on with playing football."

Derek Robertson, a Director of Dundee United who attended the hearing with Owen said: "Members of the SFA complimented Dundee United on our anti-racist stance. This compliment and Owen Coyle being cleared was total vindication of the player and the Club."
