LATE OWN GOAL MEANS ONLY A SHARE OF POINTS AT HIBS

8th November 2003

Hibs attacked right from the kick-off and O'Connor had his shot saved in the first minute. United's first shot on target came from Dodds who had a good effort saved, but it was Hibs who took the lead in fourteen minutes when Brown hit a fierce drive from thirty yards to score. Despite some pressure from the home side, United equalised through McLaren with just short of half an hour played. He pounced on a slack clearance by Doumbe to fire into the net from close range.

The second half was a little slower and although both sides had chances it took until eight minutes from the end for the next goal and it was McLaren who set up Robson (pictured) to score his first competitive goal for the Club. In the last minute of regulation time Hibs got a fortunate goal when David McCracken headed past his own keeper from a Hibs free kick and it finished two goals each.
