DUNDEE UNITED PROVIDES FULL SUPPORT TO OWEN COYLE

13th November 2003

Dundee United today confirmed that its investigation into the accusation that Owen Coyle made a racist a comment against an opponent was now complete. As a result of this, the Club would be providing strong support to Owen in this matter and a report will now be sent to the SFA.

Dundee United Director Derek Robertson said: "While we would not normally wish to comment publicly on any matter still to be considered by the SFA, there has been considerable press comment and public interest in this case.

"While we dispute that the alleged incident took place, we have treated the accusation very seriously indeed. We have undertaken a thorough investigation under the terms of our own Anti-Racism Policy and have also been provided with copies of witness statements. None of them corroborate the accusation.

"Racism is an issue that Dundee United and all of its employees take seriously. The Club has adopted a very public and active stance in the campaign against racism, which we support totally."
