KILLIE TOO STRONG FOR UNITED UNDER-21s

14th April 2003

A young Under-21s containing few players with regular first team experience came up against a strong Kilmarnock side at Tannadice tonight. In a scrappy first half the first goal went to United courtesy of Killie's Boyd who headed into his own net with twenty minutes played. Kilmarnock equalised through a Boyd point blank shot with minutes of the half remaining.

Five minutes into the second half the visitors went ahead and it was Hay who fired in a swerving volley from about twenty yards out and the goal which ended any hope of a United comeback came from the penalty spot after Jarvie (pictured) brought down Jaconelli. Boyd took the spot kick and to beat Jarvie.
