UNDER-21s LOSE AWAY TO PARTICK

25th March 2003

Mark Wilson (pictured) was in the line-up in his first game since undergoing a minor operation on his knee. Hugh Davidson also featured in this, his second game since returning from injury, after his loan spell at Stirling. Duncan Bruce in goal was given only his second Under-21s start.

United began well, but fell behind to a Miller goal in nine minutes and despite concerted United attacks the young Tangerines were unable to find an equaliser. Jags goalkeeper Budinauckas was in form and denied Stephen McGowan and Allan Smart early in the game.

In the second half the Firhill side kept United out with a combination of good luck and poor finishing from the Tannadice men. United also had a strong appeal for a penalty waved away by the referee.
