UNDER-18s LAST MINUTE DRAW

14th March 2003

Today ended a tough week for the young United side who had already met Hibernian in Edinburgh last Saturday when the score was 5-2 to the home side, and then the young Tannadice side played Dundee on Tuesday winning 3-1.

They were in action again at Glenesk today, in a game against their Livingston counterparts. The young Tangerines could have taken the lead on at least three occasions in the first half, but as the game wore on, the stronger Livingston side began to take the upper hand. United's cause was hindered with a red card for John McMenemy, who was deemed to be the last man when he fouled McDonald. At half time the teams went in level at 0-0.

In the second half, the visitors took an early lead through Walker who netted a spectacular 30 yard drive. The sides were evened up at 10 men each when Livingston keeper Creer was sent off for bringing down Stephen McGowan outside the box, and from that point on United took charge. It was no easy task to break down a resolute Livi defence, but in the last minute Steven Bell scored a deserved equaliser when he rolled the ball through the keeper's legs and into the net after a one-two with McGowan.
