DUNDEE UNITED WINTER FESTIVAL

3rd January 2003

The cold frosty weather in Dundee has not prevented the local youngsters from participating at this year's Winter Festival held at Gussie Park. Full capacity 118 children have braved the cold climate and have been involved in a series of skills practices coached by the United community coaching staff. Friday saw the Soccer Winter Olympics take place and was enjoyed by all that took part in the action packed football circuit. All the children on the course have received a mini football which has been provided by the community programme's major partner, Scotland Against Drugs, and will also receive a certificate of attendance and a free home match ticket. It is great to see so many keen young footballers taking part at this time of year, especially as the weather makes it extremely difficult for travelling. Overall a successful start to the New Year and we all look forward to the next holiday programme at Easter. A list of all the weekly community courses will be released next week containing details of the current courses and five additional football centres.
