DODDS MANIA HITS UNITED SHOP

31st December 2002

Billy Dodds's return to Tannadice has sparked a wave of business at the Dundee United Souvenir Shop. Helen Docherty (right) who runs the United shop for the Club has reported large numbers of customers coming into purchase replica shirts with the name Dodds and the number 14 on the back. Many supporters who also received a United shirt at Christmas have been bringing in their gift to have Billy's name and squad number added.

The United Commercial Department have also reported individuals and companies phoning in and wanting to sponsor the returning United striker. General Manager Bill Campbell commented, "By now we usually have few player sponsorships available but Billy will be one of our Privilege Sponsorships providing multi opportunities to take advantage of a legendary player returning to the Club."

It is hoped that the signing will add to the gate this Thursday when Dodds should make his first appearance since returning to Tannadice. "I have spoken to the Chairman and he is optimistic that Billy's return will add substantially to the gate for Thursday's match against Kilmarnock," continued the General Manager. "We will certainly be looking to add between one and two thousand to what the attendance would have been. This will be an exciting match with so much at stake and I hope that many many Arabs will want to be there to see Billy Dodds make his comeback in Tangerine."

The United Ticket office has also reported a rush on Half Season Tickets. Although the Ticket Office is closed on New Years Day, it will be open for business on Thursday from noon.
