UNITED DEFEAT CLYDE IN YOUTH CUP

United faced Clyde at Tannadice Park this evening in the third round of the SFA Youth Cup.

United lined up as follows: BRUCE, ALLUM, MOLLOY, HUNTER, ANDERSON, HARDIE, McMILLAN, McMENEMY, McGOWAN, HOLMES, JARVIS. SUBS: BLACK, McDONALD, CALLAGHAN, CRAIG, BELL.

On a sliipery wet pitch, the young Tangerines went ahead in the fifteenth minute through Steven Anderson. Clyde were the more attacking side following United's opener however they could not penetrate the Tangerine defence and the home side went in at the interval one goal ahead.

HALF-TIME: UNITED 1 CLYDE 0

Minutes into the second half Stephen McGowan missed a penalty when Clyde keeper Clark saved the kick only for the ball to fall back in front of the penalty taker. Unfortunately McGowan fired the rebound over the bar. A second for United was eventually to follow when Callum Hardie netted with quarter of an hour remaining.

Zander McMillan rounded off the win with a third in the 83rd minute.
