UNDER-21'S LOSE AT DENS PARK

7th October 2002

Following a day of intense activity at Tannadice off the field, the Under-21's matched up against their Dens Park counterparts in a match that promised to produce intense action on the field. The United side had began their 2002-2003 campaign well but had narrowly lost by the odd goal in five against Celtic at Tannadice last week.

Coach Paul Hegarty selected a side that had a mix of youth and experience. United lined up as follows: JARVIE, ALLUM, GARTLAND, MCINTYRE, ANDERSON, LAUCHLAN, CARSON, GUNNLAUGSSON, WINTERS, HAMILTON AND WADDELL
SUBS: COMBE, OGUNMADE, MCMENEMY, MCGOWAN AND CALLAGHAN

United went into the break behind 0-3 to Dundee. Defensive frailties allowed the Dark Blues to storm to their three goal advantage with two goals by Milne in the 15th and 21st minutes followed by a Jablonski third in the 36th minute.

United pulled a goal back midway into the second period through Jim Hamilton (pictured), his second in two matches for the young Tangerines, however there were no further goals with Hegarty's team losing their second game on the spin.
