PAINFUL DEFEAT

16th September 2002

Reflecting back on Saturday's game, Manager Alex Smith commented on Monday: "It was most disappointing to lose another home game. There is no doubt that it was probably our best home performance of this season, and to end up with no points was very painful. We had hoped that we could follow up our win to Aberdeen on Wednesday night with another three point gain on Saturday, thereby taking us into the top six and create a gap between ourselves and other teams below. This, however, did not materialise and we are left with a feeling of great disappointment and frustration, but also with the consolation of knowing that we played well and had created a lot of chances. In any game of football, it is important not to concede early. We are making a habit of losing early goals - it is a disease we need to cure. Once we do that, we will be in a position to pick up maximum points."
