PITTODRIE TRIUMPH

12th September 2002

Following last night's first win of the 2002-2003 campaign, a delighted and somewhat relieved Alex Smith commented: "I am most pleased. It is always difficult to go to Pittodrie and win. For us, it was high time to reap some just reward for the hard work we have invested in this season so far. Last night, we showed the right enthusiasm and determination - not only did we bounce back after conceding an early goal but also held on to our lead. More than anything, it was a fantastic team effort, particularly outstanding was Steven Thompson. He scored two splendid goals and was terrific to watch, alongside Derek Lilley worked tirelessly . The midfield was very strong, too, with Wilson (pictured), Easton, Miller and Griffin. Last but not least, Stuart Duff continued to impress."
